| Some of our achievements so far... * Carried out 27 successful school – based sensitization concerts since 2008 under Campus Celebrity reaching out to a total of about 12,500 students through these concerts * Directly sensitised at least 4,000 people on HIV issues through the ACMS partnership * Trained at least 80 youths on Talent Dev’t Emotional Intelligence and Leadership through intensive workshops. * Carried out voluntary inter–cultural exchange program with 4 youths from Germany * Developed 4 original project concepts namely, Campus Celebrity, Home Outreach, Foot prints and Varsity African Debates ... October 2009 Projects: The Mey-Low-D Foundation – ACMS – YOP – UAFC project for the “Empowerment of girls and women in sexual issues in the prevention of HIV” began on the 12th October with the training of 12 mey-low-d members including 10 peer educators on outreach techniques. These trainees shall for a period of 1 year (renewable thrice) carry out group educational talks and One-on-One interactions with their targeted beneficiaries (Women and Girls) sponsored by ACMS under UAFC and supervised by the Youth Outreach Program (YOP). According to Jaam, the National Coordinator “ This project is a major milestone for Mey-Low-D in networking and outreach and the sustainable growth of the organization”. Campus Celebrity 2010 begins officially on Saturday the 31st of October with a hectic Launching/Award ceremony. Tickets and posters are already out. Guest artists shall include “Nu Breed”, “Les Bambinos”, “J-Jack”, “Nkoko and Banzee”, Mey-low-d Models, Texas, Diggy Rule, Big Bounce etc. Winners of Campus Celebrity 2009 who already received their cash prices months ago shall be receiving trophies and certificates in “Red Carpet” format. Immediately after this launch shall follow 12 planned school concerts and a Grand Finale at the Bamenda Congress Hall by March 2010. Expansion: The Campus Celebrity Project is going nationwide in 2010 with the re-creation of the Yaounde and Buea branches Campus Celebrity is a project that empowers young people with life skills and leadership skills through music, dance and modelling. Concert-competitions in various schools all around Bamenda town... Lobbying: Mey-Low-D Foundation and PEP, through Nfinyo are currently considering a partnership in implementing “Dance for Life” in Bamenda. “Dance for Life” is a worldwide project the fight HIV and promote life skills among youths using dance. 3 selected members of Mey-Low-D Bamenda shall attend a 9-Day training in Yaoundé in view of the project. March 2009 CAMPUS CELEBRITY 2009 The Campus Celebrity 2009 Finals was another great success. Total Candidates: Approx 25 Winners (partial updates): Dance (Less Bambinos, AJD Group, Ako Jackson) Male Model (Emma, Jean Mebenga) Female Models (Bibiche - New Miss CC, Carine and Mariamu) Music ( Downtown, .......) Awards were granted on Saturday 2pm at the MLD location.
