Current events

September 2010:
1-      Campus Celebrity 2011 activities have begun with a planning meeting against the Launching Ceremony
that is planned for early October at the Congress hall. The foundation targets 1000 spectators paying 300
frs each in order to raise at least 300,000 frs with a mark up of 150,000 frs that shall be used to
introduce 2-Day Life Skills workshops in partnership with the Local Governments and the Regional Delegation
of Basic education.
Today, Campus Celebrity is the greatest Youth Edutainment Project in the North West Region, now,
recognised by many Government and Non Governmental structures for its impact on the lives of young people
in Bamenda.
This year, we look forward to
Increasing the number of schools,
Including post-concert LIFE SKILLS trainings for contestants,  
reviving our TV Count Down program,
increasing the number of supporting sponsors and partners
Generating and selling by-products of the project(CDs, keyholders, calendars) as a means of resource
mobilisation

2-      Mey-low-d now has 9 new registered members, all of whom are Advanced Level GCE holders and
willing to take turns to volunteer for growth in the Foundation

3-      The UAFC – ACMS – Mey-Low-D Foundation project has been extended for another year. Through
this project, as at last year, Mey-low-d peer educators have been able to sensitise close to 1,200 people on
the importance to women taking responsibility for HIV prevention. This project has helped Mey-low-d create
partial temporal employment for 10 of its members who do advocacy for the female condom. The project also
helps Mey-low-d raise running funds through 20% contribution of by peer educators from their project
stipends.

4-      Mey-low-D Foundation served as relay organization for the Holiday Fanta show organized by Les
Brasseries Du Cameroon. Through this programme, Mey-low-d Promoted talent development by involving our
singers, dancers, models and MCs in the programme. Mey-low-d was also in charge of media sensitization by
which we did an excellent job and Les Brasseries promised collaboration with the Foundation for Campus
Celebrity.

5-      In an informal partnership with the Regional Delegation of Basic Education, Mey-low-d assisted the
delegation in organizing and animating a Focus Group Discussion on involving children in Peace Building and a bus
ride with selected pupils from 12 schools to the many top government offices to discuss peace issues,
between children and leaders. Key members involved were, Honore Fon, Ernest Achu, Christabel Ayuini and
the Battle Heroins.

6-      We also received a laptop gift from Lina Droste and Carolin Zierath, 2 members of German
nationality on a private visit to Cameroon. Both girls are currently helping Mey-low-d write edutainment
project proposals on HIV, governance and life skills for future lobbying and submissions.
